It is fundamental to appreciate the evolution of the NMA trade program; more aware, more focused, and keenly able to adapt in an ever-changing economic environment. Maintaining elements of the program that work well and changing other elements to better reflect local and U.S. market forces is an integral aspect of the organizational structure. The results of this enhanced NMA program will be the identification, preparation and delivery of qualified, export-ready companies to take full advantage of the Export Continuum while enhancing Northwest communities for the betterment of the regional economy.

Objectives

Through the Northwest-Midwest Alliance Project, NMA staff will act to enhance and increase the level of export interest and activity in Northwestern Ontario. To that end, NMA staff will undertake, where feasible but not be limited to, the following initiatives per annum;

  • Provide mentoring to launch potential exporters into the marketplace
  • Contribute and assist in the preparation of an export business plan
  • Deliver concentrated export training sessions to export-ready businesses
  • Provide guidance/assistance to SMEs who are initializing their first export transactions
  • Provide networking sessions/opportunities to allow for an exchange of dialogue and information between successful exporters and non-exporters
  • Create awareness of NMA and our services through advertising and workshop delivery
  • Delivery of sector export services performed by NMA Staff
  • Creation of a sustainable service for the NMA
