There is plenty of opportunity for trade between Duluth and Thunder Bay. That was the message delivered Tuesday by the Duluth Chamber of Commerce to the Port Arthur Rotary Club at a gathering at the Prince Arthur Hotel.

Andy Peterson, director of public policy with the Duluth Chamber of Commerce was in the city to promote the upcoming Northern Networks Trade Conference taking place in September in Duluth. Peterson says a lot of what is holding back trade between the two countries is that people don't know one another, and that's what makes this conference so important. Peterson said whether you do business locally or with India and China, it all starts with personal interaction.

When asked about the state of the U.S. economy, he said he believes it will fall into a recession. Peterson also spoke of the great potential for Thunder Bay's waterfront, which has often been unflatteringly compared to the booming waterfront in Duluth.
