Synergy Wood Products of Atikokan has been sold and will be relocating to Red Rock next month. Owner Mike Schusterman explained the deal came about while he was in the process of doing consulting work for the new owners of Red Rock Mill Inc. and a deal was struck that will see them acquire his operation and re-start production at the mill. While existing staff have been invited to move with the company, Schusterman says it appears most of his ten workers may remain in Atikokan working for a new operation that's turning out a line of cedar furniture. He hoped the impact in the town of Atikokan will be minimal. It's expected that the change in location and access to new customers through Red Rock Mill will allow them to increase production of the shelving product to two shifts. Schusterman says they are still shooting or a late fall or winter start-up. The operation will employ about one hundred people. Efforts to re-tool the Red Rock mill to begin turning out the flooring underlay under the Multiply brand name continues.
